About him
Short version:
I am an intelligent (high I.Q. for what it’s worth – i.e. not that much), non-smoking, teetotal vegetarian (NOT vegan), calm guy, looking for the same. I am kind, unflinchingly honest and have no pretentions. I cannot stand cruelty to animals.
Reading some other profiles, it does seem that people, whilst admitting that we have to have standards, are perhaps too fussy? After all, insisting a man must have a full head of hair at the approximate age of 70 seems unrealistically uncompromising.
On one hand I am unrelentingly optimistic about life, in general, but do I think there is a realistic chance of finding love at my age? It does seem unlikely but one has to give it a try. After all, I believe that a life on one’s own is a form of existence but a life shared with someone “special” is a life fully LIVED.
I do have some photos but I don’t feel I am photogenic and cringe every time I see one of me (which probably translates as I hate growing old)

ME:
My main love in life is my dog. He is a great companion and, as a retired dog behaviourist, I can happily state he is beautifully behaved at all times and I can trust him fully.
I do NOT have a passport and will never get one, as I take all my holidays in the UK, mostly The Lakes, which is a place of outstanding beauty and the absence of human noise and of cars & concrete is of paramount importance to me. It’s a place to strengthen my soul
I am entirely solvent and do not owe a penny.
About his ideal match
Predominantly, I want someone (without sounding trite) to be gentle, kind and, above all just plain NICE, with an even temperament – I was married to a fiery person many decades ago and have no truck with anger or aggression. Absolutely NO smokers, drug users or heavy drinkers – anything more than a crate of whiskey a day is too much. Any partner will need to be fit and hopefully accompany me on my long walks, especially in the Lakes. A love of dogs is mandatory.
Must have own teeth (bit of a phobia regarding falsies) and no more than one false eye.
I have recently come out of a situation where I was the carer for my partner for 14 years after she developed Alzheimer’s and I never want to go down that heartbreaking route again. Although, I have since learnt to cook! I know it’s a little unrealistic at our relative age but life-threatening ailments will be a step too far for me. I need to find someone I don’t need to worry about or nurse.
An intelligent person with a wide range of interests and be able to string more than two words together in an intelligible manner (e.g. must know when to use “their, there or they’re”)
The age range is quite important - no-one under 60 - after all, can you imagine the conversation? "She: Have you seen the latest photo of David Cassidy in Jackie magazine - what a dreamboat!". No thanks!
It would not be possible to date someone who either voted to remain in Europe or who voted for this Labour Government. I consider myself a patriot, for what that’s worth.
