About him
I am a quiet man ( no, not that John Wayne film ) but an individual, a man making his way in life after becoming widowed suddenly more than two years ago. I suppose I could be described as a ' loner ', so there will be no U3A circle dancing nor hiking trips for me - I currently do my country walks and my canal and railway trips by myself. I like ' nostalgia ', I like Industrial Archaeology, I like 70's music and I like trees of all description.
I am looking for a long term relationship - I am NOT looking for a mother figure, nor a carer, but a girl who is happy within her own psyche and is not afraid of linking arms, nor having a car door opened for her. I have learned that distance from me ( number of miles away, I mean ) is a major factor. I do have a car and am happy to drive for outings - and maybe looking for holidays abroad - it will give me a reason to renew my passport ( after having recently discovered North Africa )

Well, this is an all encompassing question, isn't it ?
I would like her to be confident, and have an ' inner beauty ' - but all these qualities come from inside. I do not mind if she is single widowed, divorced, nor if she has a career or excessive volunteering commitments . I would like her to be able to groan at my jokes, to gasp at my previous travels ( I used to have a bit of wanderlust, nearly 50 years ago ) and become excited at the sight of ' liver and onions ' on a menu ( don't see that very often, these days ). She herself could be vegetarian, or even Vegan, I don't have a problem, as I have seen EVERY episode of Star Trek . I would like to have long talks with her, but enjoy the silences where necessary, too.
