I'm an intelligent, easy going, straightforward widower with simple, unpretentious tastes. I like things that are real or fun, preferably both. As they say: life is too serious to be taken too seriously.
A long-term relationship would be great, but no preconceptions - start off by getting to know one another and if it becomes nothing more than meeting occasionally to do things together that we like, then that's fine.
I've been retired since 2013 and was widowed at the end of 2017.

Everyone is unique. It's impossible to define an 'ideal match'. Looking for straightforward and friendly with authenticity and integrity. All good relationships, of whatever kind, are based on trust and respect, and those are exactly the qualities that I'll be looking for us to build in a relationship.
I have no family and would probably be best suited with someone who similarly has no family or only sees them occasionally.

I have known Mark for about 7 years , possibly longer. It has been a privilege and pleasure to call him my friend. A man of integrity, vast knowledge, high standards, kind, dependable, witty, good listener but equally eager collocutor. His zest for life and knowledge is inspirational. I have known Mark for approximately 15 years. During that time he has become a good friend. Initially quiet and shy but once I got to know him I discovered he was intelligent, funny and witty. An enjoyable person to spend time with.
He is interested in people. I have found him to be loyal and caring. He had many years looking after his late wife, Julie, and his attention to detail with her care was amazing. He is deserving of happiness and would make someone a good partner. I hope he finds that lady.

As much as it's possible to describe a person in so few words, I'd say Mark's profile accurately reflects the Mark I've known for the last 17 years or so. Ultimately though, when shared values and interests are confirmed, the question of a shared chemistry can only be confirmed by people meeting. What I can do is affirm qualities in Mark which are important to me and perhaps would be important to a prospective friend and, with luck, a second-chance life partner.
Mark is unquestionably honest, decent, kind, caring, considerate, dependable and reliable - though precise time-keeping does not seem as important to him as it is to me! Mark has both intellectual and emotional intelligence, coupled with a great sense of humour - that he can laugh at himself is demonstrated by his belief that he looks younger than his years! Well, at least he doesn't look older than his years.
The thing which has really impressed me though was Mark's complete unswerving and long-standing devotion and commitment to his now sadly departed wife. Believe me, no one could have done more to help and support her throughout her long, life-changing and life-limiting illness. I saw him give and do everything he could to ensure the very best for her, whatever the personal cost to him. Absolute dedication in the face of extreme adversity.
You know what you are getting with Mark. He doesn't live with hidden agendas or ulterior motives; there won't be any unpleasant surprises. He deserves a second chance to fulfil his life and any lucky lady can be assured of his commitment to a lasting friendship and relationship.
